The Electrical Contractors Association (ECA) has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of former Crossrail head of employee relations Andrew Eldred.

He joins the trade body as director of employment and skills following four-and-a-half years at the firm.

Eldred (pictured) previously worked at the Olympic Delivery Authority’s delivery partner as Olympic Park industry relations manager for three-and-a-half years and also had a year-long stint as employment relations manager at the Building and Engineering Services Association.

He is currently working alongside existing director of employment and skills Alex Meikle until he retires at the end of next month after 17-and-a-half years at the trade body.

Head of technical Steve Martin has also been promoted to the director of technical role. He replaces Jim O’Neill, who left the ECA earlier this year.

The new appointments join the existing senior management team, led by chief executive Steve Bratt, as well as director of business and external affairs Paul Reeve, director of member services Helen Atkinson and finance director Martyn Burnley.
