Trueform launches a solar-powered bus shelter that can be upgraded to include cashpoints and toilets

Public transport products and services provider Trueform has launched the world’s first eco-friendly bus shelter.

The solar-powered waiting room comes equipped with air conditioning, electronic real time information displays, CCTV, vending facilities, an ATM machine and even a toilet.

Trueform technical director Jonathan Morley said: “Our shelters can be installed and up and running under a day as there is absolutely no need for costly and disruptive highway excavation.”

Trueform claims the shelter provides passengers with a 20ºC internal temperature even in extreme conditions. Automatic doors and high velocity air curtains prevent cold air from escaping when the doors are open.

The unit is manufactured from composite insulating materials and argon filled insulating low e-cavity glass modules for high light and low heat transmittance.

Designed primarily for the US and Asian markets, Trueform took three years to complete and patent the product.
