HSE investigating latest fatality at Colnbrook, Berkshire

The number of construction-related fatalities in the last month has risen to eight after the death of a worker in Slough.

Colin Dickson, a crane installer with Kone Cranes, was crushed by a falling piece of steel at a construction site in Colnbrook, Berkshire.

The installer was working on the construction of a waste incinerator for Lakeside Energy from Waste, a JV between Viridor and Grundon.

A company spokesperson said: “Lakeside Energy from Waste Limited is deeply distressed by this event and extends its sincere condolences to the man's family.” The HSE is now investigating the fatality.

The accident brings the number of industry deaths since 31 July to eight. During last year, which was the worst for fatalities in five years, the monthly average was 6.4.
