Emcor Rail has won a £70m contract from Union Railways to carry out M&E work on the second part of the £5.2bn Channel Tunnel Rail Link scheme.
The work includes 38 km of the route, including 20 km of tunnels between Ebbsfleet in Kent and the rail link's London station near to St Pancras.

The design work is due to begin immediately, with plans being drawn up at an office in Stratford, east London. Construction is to follow between 2004 and 2006.

The work to be carried out on the rail link includes tunnel ventilation, lift and stairs pressurisation fans, fire fighting systems, drainage and building services.

Emcor has also just begun a separate job refurbishing St Pancras Station.
