The Brick Development Association has launched the Brick Awards 2004, the prestigious industry awards scheme designed to highlight the very best in brickwork, whether in architectural, structural, landscape or craft applications.
Anyone can enter the Brick Awards. Architects, designers, engineers, owners, developers, housebuilders, specialist brickwork contractors and brick manufacturers are all eligible. There are fourteen categories that cover a wide range of building types and qualities, ranging from housing and commercial buildings to prefabrication and sustainability. The main criterion for entry is that projects must be constructed of bricks manufactured by BDA Member companies, have been completed within the last three years and not have been entered before.

Piers Gough of architect CZWG (see pages 6-9) has once again agreed to be chairman of the judges for this year’s awards. The winners will be announced at a gala presentation evening on Wednesday 3 November at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s exclusive Park Lane. As in previous years, an entertainer from the world of showbiz will liven up the proceedings in addition to a fun event aimed at raising funds for charity.

To receive an entry form and further information, contact the BDA on 01344 885651 or email brick@brick.org.uk Entry forms can also be downloaded from www.brick.org.uk. The closing date for entries is Friday 9 July 2004.
