Eleven senior members of staff and directors have left architect SMC after a strategic review aimed at turning the business around.

The 11 include former chief executive Stuart McColl, whose departure was announced in June. In all, 32 people have left the firm in the wake of the review.

The company said in a trading update that its bankers were continuing to be supportive and that it expected profit before exceptional items to “broadly break even” for the first half.

Uncertainty has surrounded SMC since the group published poor results last year and issued a a series of profit warnings.

Last year, profit dropped 4% to £2.7m.
