More than 600 student bedrooms across nine blocks to be built, as well as Elite Athlete Centre
Consultant Faithful+Gould is managing the development of a new 661 bedroom student village at Loughborough University.
It will see 617 new student bedrooms delivered across nine blocks along with a building at its heart for informal meeting and flexible learning.
There will also be a 44 bedroom ‘Elite Athlete Centre Hotel’, where 20 bedrooms will incorporate a pressurised air system to replicate high altitude and low oxygen conditions with the aim of assisting athletes’ training regimes.
Communal outdoor areas will encourage people to engage in a range of activities including sprinting, step challenges, table tennis, balancing skills and jumping.
The Elite Athlete Centre and two of the student blocks are scheduled for completion by August 2018, with the remaining blocks and development completed by April 2019. Construction work on site started late last month.
This project adds to the £29m one that Faithful+Gould and David Morley Architects are undertaking at Warwick University, with a 13,650m2 sports hub set for compeltion next year.
