Young QS scoops Women in Property National Student Awards 2011

Consultant Faithful+Gould has announced QS Elsie North winner of the Women in Property National Student Awards 2011. She received her award at a Best of the Best awards dinner at Claridge’s in London.

North is currently working in F+G’s London offices while also undertaking a part-time BSc (Hons) degree in QS consultancy from Kingston University. She joined the firm in 2006 straight from school initially as an apprentice as part of their commitment to the Chartered Surveyors Training Trust.

In addition to her trophy,  North wins £700 plus a prize package which includes a year’s membership of the Women in Property association.

She said: “It was great to get to the national final - but to actually win the national award is fantastic!  I would like to thank my employer who has been 100% supportive of me, so I’m really happy to give something back.

“I also think it’s really important to be able to raise awareness to what women in the property and construction industry can achieve so this award is a really good start.”

The awards were launched in 2007 to inspire young women studying a built environment degree course and to raise awareness among employers of the quality and skills coming into the property and construction industry.

Stephen Hateley, F+G director, said: “This really is a fantastic achievement.  The award process has real rigour and includes an interview with a panel of industry leaders drawn from the property world.  She clearly demonstrated her skills, her passion and her commitment.  We look forward to supporting Elsie as she develops her career.”
