Newcastle College’s Performance Academy, designed by architect RMJM, has officially opened.

The £21m development is the first of its kind in the UK and will provide a facility for more than 1000 students. The 10,000 m2 design includes a 250-seat theatre, a 200-capacity music venue, television and recording studios and acting and dance centres. Other team members included cost consultant and project manager Turner & Townsend, main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine, and acoustic and theatre consultant Sandy Brown Associates.
