Hochtief worker killed during construction of Glendoe hydroelectric station in the Highlands

A construction worker has died in an accident at the site of one of Scotland's biggest hydroelectric schemes.

The incident happened yesterday morning at the £126m Glendoe hydro power station near Fort Augustus in the Highlands - the biggest hydroelectric scheme to be built in Scotland for 50 years.

The 46-year-old man was involved in a forklift accident and died at the scene, according to reports.

A spokesperson for Scottish & Southern Energy said that an investigation was under way.

The man is understood to have been working for contractor Hochtief on the construction project.
