A fire broke out at Brookfield Multiplex’s Southern General Hospital site in Glasgow, yesterday.

The blaze broke out in a plant room on the second floor of the building, which is still under construction.

Fire crews were dispatched from nearby Govan and Renfrew Community Fire Stations to tackle the flames after receiving a call at 1.00pm.

At the scene fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose to extinguish the blaze before ventilating the affected areas.

It is the second fire at a construction site in three days after a blaze broke out in the roof of Lend Lease’s Hydro Centre arena on Saturday.

Forty fire fighters were required to tackle the flames in the roof space.
