Cala Homes has been given the go-ahead to for the first phase of the redevelopment of the Princess Royal Barracks.

Surrey Heath Borough Council ok’d the 215-home project in Deepcut, which will be known as Mindenhurst, at a committee meeting late last week.

Cala was appointed by Skanska, who is the construction and development contractor overseeing the creation of Mindenhurst, to deliver the first phase of residential housing at the scheme last year.

The first phase will feature a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments, and two- to five-bedroom homes.

Cala will also deliver 35% of affordable properties as part of the scheme.

The development will sit next to a proposed village green, while other green space areas will feature in the layout which will also include pedestrian and cycle links throughout the Mindenhurst scheme.

The wider redevelopment masterplan includes shops, a care home, a pub, a church, and public open space. Skanska will deliver these parts of the new neighbourhood in its role as development partner with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation.

Rob Hall, land director at Cala Homes, said: “Importantly, the development will play a vital role in generating the new homes needed within the district, as well as providing much-needed affordable housing.

“We believe our plans are in line with local needs and are sure that this development will be an attractive and sustainable addition to the town.”
