The Battersea power station chimney

Rafael Viñoly’s plan to adorn Battersea power station with a 300m glass chimney proved short-lived, being dropped in February as part of a design revamp. Cabe is understood to have been particularly scathing of the structure, which was to have included an “eco-dome” at the base of the chimney that pulled fresh air though the buildings below, eliminating the need for mechanical cooling.
