No official appointment has been made but it is believed the company will announce that McGuckin has taken up a senior position in the next week.

McGuckin left Land Secs at the end of January after it decided to put its 10,000-home Ebbsfleet Valley regeneration project in Kent on ice.

He will be based at T&T’s London office and is expected to work on both private sector and infrastructure deals. McGuckin was unavailable for comment.

T&T has 56 offices around the world, including 13 in the UK. Its highest-profile scheme in the UK is the Shard in London being built by Mace, on which it is project manager.

It is understood that McGuckin will also be expected to help raise the firm’s profile in the UK. One rival said: “They’re quite big around the world but they tend not to blow their own trumpet over here.”

T&T employs nearly 2,500 people and in the year to April 2008, the firm’s revenue grew one-fifth to £179m.
