Company praises Michael Speakman for ‘outstanding leadership’ during his six years as chief executive

Michael Speakman, former Keller Group chief executive, has died aged 62, the firm announced today.

Speakman stood down from Keller last summer due to ill health after becoming chief executive in 2019. He first joined the group in 2018 as chief finance officer after a career in the engineering and energy sectors.

Keller chair Carl-Peter Forster said Speakman (pictured) had made an immense contribution to the company and “leaves a legacy of outstanding leadership during which he guided the company through a period of significant development and improved financial and operational performance. Michael was a great friend and colleague to many at Keller, and he will be hugely missed.”

Speakman was succeeded at the listed ground engineering group by James Wroath, formerly chief executive of logistics firm Wincanton.
