Alan Bowkett will be chief executive of housebuilder

Housebuilder Gladedale has appointed former Redrow chair Alan Bowkett as non-executive chair of the firm.

The company, which underwent a radical restructure in September last year, said Bowkett would help drive forward its strategy of establishing its three regional housebuilding brands in their local markets.

Bowkett was chairman of Redrow until the takeover by Stephen Morgan in March last year. Before that he was chief executive of construction industry supplier Boulton and Paul. He has also been chief executive of the Beresford Group, chairman of kitchen supplier Magnet and is currently chairman of Norwich City football club.

Last month Gladedale, which is now effectively owned by it bank Lloyds TSB, reported annual results showing a £106m loss after sales collapsed 49.4% to £316m.
