Four teams are in the race for the first phase of a £33m flagship regeneration scheme in Bermondsey, south London.
The four have been shortlisted to develop the £3m first phase of the Bermondsey Spa project, including a new health centre and mix of affordable and private housing on a 0.1 ha site on Grange Road near Bermondsey Jubilee Line station.

The four shortlisted teams are developer Rydon Group with Alan Camp Architects; Bellway Homes, Angel Properties with Robert Ian Barnes Architects and Sergison Bates; the Roof Group with architects Pollard Thomas & Edwards and Dransfield Owens da Silva; and Hyde Housing Association.

The four proposals will go on public exhibition in Southwark in August. Southwark council will select two preferred bidders in September and invite them to work up more detailed proposals before choosing a winner.

Southwark is also assessing bids for a second £20-30m mixed-use second phase of the scheme on five sites just off Bermondsey's Old Jamaica Road.

The council invited bids for a mix of affordable and private housing designed by more than one architect, using sustainable designs and construction techniques and making the surrounding area more pedestrian-friendly.

Southwark will invite two bidders to submit more detailed proposals at the start of next month.
