Galliford Try this week announced the purchase of two small companies, and also revealed that it had won construction contracts worth £160m.
The first acquisition, for £175,000, was Burton Communications, a site rigging and microwave installation specialist. Galliford Try said it would also pay up to £1.15m for South-western housebuilder Gerald Wood.

The contracts won included a £23m social housing scheme and a waste water treatment plant for Welsh Water Dwr Cymru.
