The former UCATT general secretary died today after a short illness.

Former UCATT general secretary George Brumwell has died aged 66 following a short illness.

Building does not know the details of the illness other than that he was due to have an operation on Wednesday.

Brumwell was a UCATT official for 35 years, and was head of the union for 13 years before retiring in 2004 when he became chairman of the CSCS card scheme. He also sat on the board of occupational health body Constructing Better Health.
