Design by 3D Reid and Faber Maunsell achieves highest ever BREEAM retail fit-out rating
Marks & Spencer’s Silverburn store in Glasgow has achieved the highest BREEAM retail fit-out rating to date in the UK. Designed by 3D Reid Architects with engineering consultant Faber Maunsell providing engineering design, the construction of the building forms part of the retailer’s Plan A initiative.
Silverburn uses around 40% less water than a comparable M&S store while leakage of harmful hydrofluorocarbons has been eliminated by using state-of-the art fridges that operate on hydrocarbon and carbon-dioxide refrigerants.
