The Trees development will be 2.8 million ft2

Gleeds has won a deal to work as cost managers for phase one of a large development for the Godrej Group in Mumbai.

The Trees development will have 2.8 million ft2 of office space, residential towers, retail and five-star hospitality and a four acre landscaped park in the centre of the city.

The first building, called Godrej One, will be one of India’s leading commercial projects and will bring various Godrej Group companies under the same roof. Of a total area of 750,000 ft2, 250,000 ft2 will be used as the headquarters for several Godrej Group companies. The remaining 500,000 ft2 will be leased to external tenants.

Stuart Senior, managing partner of Gleeds Nottingham and who formed and manages its Indian operations, said of the project: “This development aspires to be among the most sustainable in the world. Cutting-edge sustainability features appear throughout the masterplan and building design to ensure that energy requirements are minimised and water is conserved.

“Godrej Properties has applied to have Godrej One certified as LEED-Platinum, which is globally recognised as the highest rating of sustainable design.”

The Trees development will be built in three phases and Gleeds started on site at the end of January.
