Planning approval secured for extension and refurbishment of St Johns Shopping Centre

Land Securities' £100m refurbishment of St Johns Shopping Centre in Liverpool has been given the green light.

The developer has secured planning consent to revamp and extend the retail complex in the city centre.

The scheme, which aims to attract new “high-profile tenants”, includes an extra 4,300m2 of retail space, designed by architect Benoy. An existing indoor market will be moved and a new food court built.

Benoy said that work may start as early as next year.
