DCMS spokesperson says Tessa Jowell has no plans to step down as an MP and apply for the job

The department for culture media and sport has denied that Tessa Jowell will become the new chair of the Olympic Delivery Authory. Building revealed this week that there was a Whitehall plan for her to take the job as she would not form part of a Gordon Brown Cabinet.

However a spokeswoman for DCMS said: "Tessa Jowell has no plans to step down as an MP and no plans to apply for the job of chair of the ODA."
