GLA appoints new director of development and environment to oversee delivery of Thames Gateway projects

The Greater London Authority has appointed Fiona Fletcher-Smith as director of development and environment.

This post will help deliver some of the Mayor’s key priorities including major projects like Crossrail and the Thames Gateway, the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, and tackling climate change.

Fletcher-Smith is currently corporate director of neighbourhoods and regeneration at the London Borough of Hackney. The role is a new one, the directorate having been created to better reflect the Mayor’s new priorities following a reorganization.

Her responsibilities include programmes across prominent policy areas notably work on economic recovery, major infrastructure, waste management, transport, the 2012 Games and the redrafting of the London Plan.
