Allied London scheme at old Granada Studios approved

Plans to build a 51-storey tower at the former Granada studios site in central Manchester have won approval.

The scheme by Allied London will be a shade shorter than Beetham Tower at 168.4m, less than a metre shorter thant Manchester’s tallest building at 169m.

The tower off Water Street will incorporate a hotel and apartments.

It makes up part of the wider St John’s Quarter, which is replacing the old Granada Studios, where Coronation Street was filmed before moving to Media City in Salford three years ago.
