Firm wins outline planning approval for redevelopment in Southampton
Kier Property has won outline planning approval for a £40m redevelopment on the site of the former Ordnance Survey headquarters in Southampton.
The development will include 179 new homes, 19,000sq ft of office space and 15,000sq ft of retail including shops, a restaurant and a pub on Romsey Road.
Kier has already developed part of the 24-acre former OS site, which was acquired in 2010as part of a deal to develop a new headquarters for Ordnance Survey at Adanac Park (pictured).
On the 11-acre western part of the site, Taylor Wimpey has already started work on 193 new homes.
Director at Kier Property, Kevin Dixon, said: “We are delighted that outline planning permission has been granted on a unanimous basis for the Romsey Road development.
“The new homes, offices and retail outlets planned for the site will compliment the office space that has already been developed at Compass House, bringing new business into the city and regenerating the whole area.”
