The M62 Improvement scheme will see construction of two new slip roads and pedestrian/cyclist crossing

A £38m improvement scheme for junction 6 of the M62 has been given the go-ahead by the government.

The work will provide two new link roads to increase capacity of the juncition and reduce congestion.

Commenting on the government decision, roads minister Stephen Ladyman said: "This junction is a key gateway and these improvements will tackle congestion, improve accessibility and make journey times more reliable.”

A new crossing for pedestrians and cyclists will also be provided.

The work is expected to start in Spring 2007 and will take about 22 months.
