Outgoing Galliford Try chief wins construction industry boss of the year, plus full list of Building Awards winners

Building Awards 2015

Greg Fitzgerald was honoured for his contribution to the construction industry, picking up the chief executive of the year accolade at the Building Awards on Wednesday night.

Fitzgerald is due to retire later this year, after leading contractor and housebuilder Galliford Try for a decade, both as chief executive and for the past six months as executive chairman.

Building’s award ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House hotel was attended by 1,000 industry figures and hosted by David Walliams, with extra comedy from Alun Cochrane.

Project of the year was scooped by PwC’s refurbished HQ One Embankment Place, while Levitt Bernstein’s Vaudeville Court took small project of the year.

Among the night’s other winners were The Berkeley Group, which won housebuilder of the year; Mace, which won contractor of the year; and Faithful+Gould, which won consultant of the year (over 100 staff). PRP Architects was named architectural practice of the year.

Argent scored a double win, picking up the client of the year award and personality of the year for partner Tony Giddings.
