Motherwell brownfield site will house over 10,000 people and college campus

Grontmij has been appointed as environmental consultant on a 1,125-acre brownfield site at Ravenscraig near Motherwell.

The site, which used to be home to the largest rolling steel mill in Western Europe, is being redeveloped to house over 10,000 people, a sports centre and a £70m campus for Motherwell College.

Developers hope the site will attract at least £1.4bn of private investment over the next 15 to 20 years. Grontmij will assess the land to make sure it is suitable for redevelopment.
