One of the biggest housing associations has pulled out of the race to build London mayor Ken Livingstone’s zero carbon project in the Docklands.

The Guinness Trust confirmed this week that it had withdrawn from the competition to develop the 200 home zero carbon scheme at the Gallions site.

Guinness, one of the UK’s largest registered social landlords, was working with Gallions Housing Association in east London. The other five shortlisted consortiums had all submitted detailed bids.

A London Development Agency spokesman said: “We received five bids and Guinness was not one of them.” The agency aims to select the winning bidder by the end of the year.
