Australian retail developer Westfield could include housing around its £1.5bn White City shopping centre in west London.

The group, which this week resubmitted plans for the scheme, is in talks over linking the centre to a mixed-use scheme on a neighbouring site planned by fellow developer Helical Bar and the BBC. The resubmitted plans will cut energy usage by up to a quarter, thanks to the use of glass rather than fabric roofs foe the wintergarden.
