The Homes and Communities Agency is to launch a search for a developer for the next phase of its Holbeck Urban Village scheme in Leeds.

The HCA, working alongside Leeds council, is planning to issue a contract notice for a 1.01 acre site adjacent to the existing Tower Works scheme in early April, with outline proposals required by late May or June.

The HCA plans to choose the development partner for the scheme by the end of the year.

The site, to the south west of the station, is likely to benefit from the creation of a new southern entrance to the station which is due to complete in 2015, and is close to the site of the proposed HS2 station for the city.

The HCA said the wider south bank regeneration plan, of which the Holbeck Urban Village is one part, has the potential to create 20,000 jobs and 5,000 homes.
