Number of reservations through equity loan scheme hits 10,000

There have been 10,000 reservations for new build homes through the government’s Help to Buy scheme, the latest official figures have shown.

The Department for Communities and Local Government figures, published this morning, showed that since the equity loan element of the Help to Buy scheme was launched in April, there have been 10,000 reservations for new build homes.

The figures came as the latest statistics from the Council of Mortgage Lenders yesterday showed that the number of mortgages advanced to prospective homeowners hit 68,200 in the second quarter of the year – the largest quarterly total for five and a half years.

More than 25,000 mortgages were advanced to first-time buyers, a rise of 30% on the same period a year ago.
