Build-to-rent deal will include more than 350 units

Whittam Cox Architects' Kangaroo Works proposals for Sheffield

Plans by US investor Angelo Gordon and London property firm Ridgeback Group for a £50m build-to-rent scheme in Sheffield have been unveiled.

The £50m Kangaroo Works proposals are earmarked for a former city-council-owned site at the junction of Rockingham Street and Wellington Street. They were drawn up by Whittam Cox Architects.

It will include 364 flats as well as ground floor commercial.

Named after a former tool factory that occupied the site in the 19th century, the 15-storey development forms part of Sheffield’s Heart of the City II masterplan.

Local contractor Henry Boot Construction will carry out building work with the scheme managed by city-based Brantingham Homes.
