Consultant to manage the rehabilitation of water and wastewater infrastructure systems

Consultant Hill International has received two contracts to manage the rehabilitation of water and wastewater infrastructure systems in Alba and Braila counties in Romania.

The contracts for clients S.C. Apa CTTA S.A. Alba and Dunarea Braila Public Utility Company have an estimated total value to Hill of approximately £4m (€4.2m).

Only 52% of the Romanian population is connected to both water and wastewater systems and more than 71% of wastewater is not treated or is inadequately treated. After becoming a member of the European Union, Romania must comply with European Directive 98/83/EC which sets drinking water quality standards.

Raouf Ghali, president of Hill’s project management group, said: “We are proud to be a part of such an important public initiative. These programs will have a significant impact on the region’s water quality and help the country comply with the European Directive.”
