The firms will work together to complete the mechanical, engineering and heating works needed at the nuclear plant

Hinkley

Balfour Beatty and NG Bailey are leading a new joint venture set up between all the M&E companies working on Hinkley Point C to deliver the erection sequence for the UK’s first new nuclear power station in two decades.

The partnership, which is known as the MEH Joint Venture, will also include Altrad, Cavendish Nuclear and Doosan Babcock.

The jv will work across the Hinkley Point C site to integrate and coordinate the delivery of the project’s main M&E, cabling and associated support services.

A central project management office will manage the scheduling and sequencing of the mechanical, engineering and heating activities on site and work to refine the required systems, processes, procedures, data and reporting.

Richard Bowman, the jv’s interim managing director, said: “Uniting our expertise brings together a host of knowledge and experience in delivering safe nuclear design, construction, modification, maintenance and decommissioning.”

The formation of the joint venture took place on site with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the individual companies and Hinkley Point C.
