Architect behind 2012 Olympic stadium becomes independent firm

HOK Sport has confirmed its split from the HOK group.

The architect, which for the moment will be known as HOK Sport Venue Event, announced plans for a management buyout in September last year. The deal was completed on 31 December 2008.

HOK Sport remains operationally unchanged following the split from HOK, with the same 13 senior principals overseeing its operation in the UK, USA and Australia.

Under the terms of the agreement with HOK, the architect behind the 2012 Olympic stadium will launch a new corporate brand, including a new name. A spokesperson for the firm said it anticipated the new name and branding would be unveiled during the first half of 2009.
