Architect Michael Hopkins and partners has won a competition to build a 1 million ft2 office development in Docklands for Fidelity Investments.

The practice saw off competition from five architects for the scheme in east London, which includes two buildings. The higher one will be 19 storeys.

Work is set to start on site next year once the project has planning permission, with work due for completion in 2003.

Other members of the project team include cost consultant Davis Langdon & Everest, project managers CMI and mechanical and electrical engineers Cundall Johnston Partners.

A contractor has not yet been appointed and the client has not yet decided on the procurement method for a contractor.
