Halifax reports market slowdown with house prices up less than 1% for fourth month

House prices rose by only 0.7% across the UK in July, according to the latest survey from Halifax.

This makes July the fourth month in a row to show a house price increase lower than 1%. The bank said this indicated a possible market slow down.

The Halifax survey found that average UK house now costs £198,915, with prices rising by just 1.3% in the past three months.
