HS2 has made two senior appointments, with Jonathan Crone joining as director of the programme management office and Colin Morris becoming programme delivery strategy director.

Crone joins HS2 from Foster Wheeler Energy, while Morris joins from EC Harris.

Crone has 30 years experience on major infrastructure projects, and latterly delivered project controls and reporting tools on major oil and gas projects.

Morris has 26 years experience, and at EC Harris led the firms work with the Saudi government.

Both will report to HS2 director of programme and strategy, Alistair Kirk.

Construction on the UK’s new north-south rail line is expected to start within two years.

Commenting on the appointments, HS2 chief executive Simon Kirby said: “I’m really pleased to welcome Jonathan and Colin to the team. HS2 will soon become one Europe’s largest infrastructure projects and their experience of delivering highly complex projects on time and on budget will be essential as we prepare for the start of construction in January 2017.”
