I want to be a lawn: Manchester's Cathedral Gardens are now complete in time for the opening of the Commonwealth Games in July. The gardens, designed by Building Design Partnership, are bordered by the Chetham's School of Music, the refurbished Triangle shopping centre and the Ian Simpson-designed Urbis museum (which opens next week). The gardens, which are part of the city's £42m Millennium Quarter, contain a series of themed lawns, trees, water features, artworks and hard landscape areas.
