Work is nearing completion on this £18m crossing designed by Nicholas Grimshaw & Partners.
The 240 m bridge links reclaimed islands to the mainland at Ijmeer, south-east of Amsterdam. The design can be repeated to create crossings of varying length. A smaller Grimshaw bridge is already being built to link reclaimed islands. Engineer and QS is IBA, the engineers bureau of the city of Amsterdam. Contractor is HBG Civiel.
