The refurbishment of 23-storey Ferrier Point by ECD will see the south facade clad in photovoltaics

ECD Architects has submitted a planning application for the refurbishment of the 23-floor Ferrier Point in Canning Town.

The proposal for the residential tower includes two new penthouses and the upgrade of other flats to the Decent Homes standards.

As well as recladding the structure and remodelling the entrance, ECD is proposing the installation of 370m 2 of photovoltaic cladding on the south facade. This will be capable of generating 10% of the building's electricity demand.

Project Architect Peter Stokes said: "The striking design of the external skin of the building is a response to the client’s aspiration for a landmark building, signalling the high quality environment planned for the area".
