Pritzker prize-winner beats Libeskind and Fuksas to design museum in Lithuania

Zaha Hadid has won the competition to design the Guggenheim-Hermitage Museum in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The Pritzker prize-winning architect landed the win ahead of fellow star architects Daniel Libeskind and Massimiliano Fuksas.

The museum will be a collaboration between the American Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and the St Petersburg-based State Hermitage Museum.

Pending the results of a feasibility study to be carried out in the summer, it could open as early as 2011.
