Construction of 95 homes in the Shangan area of the Ballymun estate in Dublin is nearing completion. The £8.5m Levitt Bernstein-designed scheme is part of the first phase of the regeneration of the estate, which will involve the demolition and rebuilding of 2000 homes. The masterplan for the scheme, which will be the largest prefabricated housing development in Ireland, was drawn up by MacCormac Jamieson Pritchard in 1997. When complete, the estate will have 3000 homes and community facilities. Contractor is Gem Construction, client is Ballymun Regeneration, structural and civil engineer is DBFL Consulting Engineers and QS is Mulcahy McDonagh & Partners.
