The King’s Cross venue was finished at the end of last month

Australian brewer Little Creatures has opened a venue in King’s Cross – the company’s first foray into Europe.

The Regents Canal bar has been designed by Brighton-based Chalk Architecture and fit-out completed by Blackpool contractor Thompsons.

The shell and core of the S2 building, where the bar is based, was eventually completed by Midguard, after the firm was drafted in by Argent to replace original contractor Carillion which collapsed at the beginning of last year meaning the fit-out was finished nine months later than first scheduled.

The Aussie beer specialists, which originate from Fremantle in Western Australia, used structural engineer Curtins and Code Contractor Management to manage the scheme on the job.

The flagship UK pub for Little Creatures, which was named after a Talking Heads album, is in Coal Drops Yard and joins the company’s venues in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore, Taipei, Auckland, Geelong and Fremantle.

The company’s original base in Western Australia was first home to Australia’s 1987 America’s Cup entry, before becoming a crocodile farm.

Little Creatures is set to open a 10th microbrewery, which will be in San Francisco, later this year
