14-storey project designed by Pilbrow & Partners

Tower Hamlets council has given a new mixed-use scheme at Canary Wharf’s Wood Wharf development the all clear.

The Market Building, which has been designed by Pilbrow & Partners, is a 14-storey scheme that includes shared workspace, a retail market and a 'sky bar' and restaurant at its top.

Ivan Ferris, design and development executive at Canary Wharf Group, said: "The building will form the centrepiece to a vibrant new district at Canary Wharf."

The Wood Wharf masterplan, which has been designed by Allies and Morrison, is set to provide more than 3,300 new homes, nearly two million ft2 of office space, and a further 490,000ft2 of shops, restaurants and community space.

Pilbrow & Partners was set up by former PLP partner Fred Pilbrow.

Canary Wharf Contractors is expected to start construction on the Pilbrow scheme in the coming weeks.
