The groundworks arm of Balfour Beatty, which employs more than 500 people, is to be restructured, with redundancies a likely result

The country’s biggest contractor is reorganising Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering, which comprises four separate companies: Stent, Pennine, Branlow and Testal.

It is not yet clear what the division will look like after the reshuffle, but 300 staff are entering a period of “consultation”.

A spokesperson for Balfour Beatty said: “Due to the reorganisation of companies within the arm there will be duplication in some roles. The purpose of the reorganisation is to align the resources of the business to the current and future market.”
