Administrator for rail infrastructure specialist Jarvis announces 1,100 redundancies.

In a statement released today, administrator Deloitte said the business could not continue to trade in the absence of further funding.

The statement continued: “It has regrettably, therefore, been necessary to make some 1,100 redundancies across the three companies today.”

The three companies affected are Jarvis PLC, Jarvis Rail and Fastline. The companies are spread across offices including the headquarters in York, as well as those in Doncaster, Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle and Peterborough.

Meanwhile, the administrators said they would continue to seek a buyer for the business as a going concern and have already received a “significant” interest in the company.

Jarvis was forced to call in administrators last week after its banks refused any further loans.
