Kevin McCloud, Nick Raynsford and fashion designer Paul Smith are also made honorary fellows

London mayor Ken Livingstone, Construction Industry Council chairman Nick Raynsford and Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud have all been made honorary fellows of the RIBA.

The three are joined on a 10-strong list, which also includes:

  • Paul Smith, fashion designer
  • Pooran Desai, founder and co-director of BioRegional Development Group
  • Dr Victoria Harris, managing director, Architects for Aid
  • David Lewis, designer, Bang & Olufsen
  • Isabel Allen, journalist
  • Jane Wernick, engineer
  • Peter Wilson, director of projects at the Tate
The architecture body has also approved five international fellowships to non-UK architects who have made a particular contribution to architecture.

They are: Odile Decq, Jan Gehl, Raymond Moriyama, Denise Scott Brown and Kazuyo Sejima

RIBA president Jack Pringle said it was important the institute recognised work done by architects over the world. He said: “We welcome to the RIBA family five architects - from France, Denmark, Canada, the United States and Japan - whose work represents not only the spirit of their countries but also transcends it to become truly international in its reference and influence.”
